The song, a cover of Bona Fide by Allison’s Gate interpreted by Aunt Lucy, grapples with a failed relationship and the film portrays a reckoning.

In dealing with betrayal, the character starts out confronting her own actions through dancing, mimicking herself jauntily in the mirror – she tries out poses to see what she might have looked like.

Slowly, she starts leaning into her own abilities of movement, her own agency to perform. The more she realises how much she has been lying to herself about her partner, the more agile and un-rigid she becomes.

It took several hours of trial and error, the difficulties lying in working around 3 mirrored walls and repeating a physically straining performance.

The vision came together in the editing process. The experimental energy of the footage set the tone of the video and helped carry through a sense of exploration and transformation.
