It’s interesting to see how naturally the grainy, blown out VHS footage comes together with the 3d scans, given that there’s several decades between the two technologies.
Filming with this old camcorder gave me the idea to really lean into the ragged, rough looking shapes I got whenever my 3D scans failed. I ended up playing around with my scanning software to get it to abort early and give me these partial scans that compliment the texture of the VHS footage beautifully.
